Originally Arden-Arcade used to belong to Mexico, then granted and negotiated, and finally purchased for $1.5 million by the Sacramento Valley Colonization Company in 1910. The name Arcade comes from the Arcade Creek — a major meadow or oaks: they were used to tie up horses that were transferred by rail to other parts of the country.
