Antelope is a great place at Sacramento County, in the heart of California, US. Nicely located, just in 15 miles away from Sacramento and just 5 miles away from beautiful Roseville, Antelope is a popular place to reside. In 2010 the population was around 45 thousand people.
The Antelope community is not that large: about 7 square miles (or about 18 km), the place is mostly flat and convenient for living. For the past decade, the costs for residence in California increased due the migration to the area, its proximity to large cities (as San Francisco) and nature attractions (like Lake Tahoe). It led to the increased prices for the real estate.
Antelope is a pleasant and attractive place; however, locals admit it lacks entertainment and activities. The climate though the most part of the year is mild and full of advantages: warm summers and winters, sunny with low precipitation levels, most rains fall in autumn and winter. Antelope, California, is a family-friendly area, it has a lot of attractive family neighborhoods.
Living in Antelope provides its inhabitants with a great suburban feel with a lot of space, fresh air and multiple parks in the surroundings. Most of residents are families, young specialists and elderly people.
Closer to 1900s, Antelope was not densely populated: just several hundreds people, mostly railroad workers and small business owners. In 1973 Antelope was a tiny town with a store, a post office and several homes. On April 28, a rail car carrying bombs exploded near the town and destroyed almost everything in it.
A decade later Antelope turned into a planned community, and active construction works to build single-family homes and apartment buildings started. As the history of the town started relatively not so long ago, the real estate is new, and the whole area is conveniently planned. The closure of the Air Force Base near Antelope in the 1990ies definitely had a negative impact on the economic development of the area. However, Antelope was recognized as a community and received its own postmark in 1994.
The electricity is provided to Antelope by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. The natural gas supply and services is carried out by the PG&E. The Internet, mobile, and landline telephone services are provided by Consolidated Communications, Comcast, and AT&T.
Antelope is a suitable place to bring up children, as the level of education in the public schools is considered above average. There are 56 public schools in the town, most of them have good reviews. The popular ones include Antelope High School, Center High School, El Camino Fundamental High School, and Heritage Peak Charter School.
There are two churches in Antelope, beautifully decorated and fully functioning on Sundays and other days of the week: Saint Andrews Episcopal Church and Antelope Road Christian Fellowship Church.
One of the most popular spots in Antelope is golf: the enthusiasts of this activity can visit Antelope Greens Golf Course and Lawrence Links Golf Course. Some residents choose jogging or general exercising in parks, for example, Antelope Community Park (or the Park of Dreams) — it used to have a wooden playground, which is now replaced with a modern one, suitable for children and teens. It is large and spacious, which allows everyone find an attractive sports activity.
Beautiful places to have a walk, contemplate and do some sports include Pokelma Park and Tetotom Park. They both have a playground, a couple of tennis courts, a volleyball court, and a baseball diamond.
Lone Oak Park is famous among the students of the Center High School. It has a playground and swings for children, a baseball field and a soccer field to enjoy playing these sports.
Northbrook Part (previously known as Antelope Greens Park) may not be easy to find, as it is hidden behind homes and a gold course. It is suitable for walking, jogging and playing basketball — there is a basketball court in there.
Another popular Park for sports and activities is Firestone park: there are courts for baseball and basketball players, you can also find a multipurpose field and a soccer field to get your team and play a game.
